Dreaming of Free Tickets
The secret must be out since I’ve been watching Trent Reznor’s Twitter account gain 100,000 followers in the past week and a half. He’s doing something pretty novel with his account and the tour that his band is on (with Janes Addiction) by giving away free tickets and backstage passes to any show the winner desires (example). So in hopes of winning some coveted tickets with passes, I got my device updates turned on for following his account. That means whenever Trent is at his TweetDeck and sends a message, my phone goes nuts about 3 minutes afterwards. This is great because I don’t need to be camped out on his Twitter page refreshing like a madman trying to be fan n, n+1, n+2, n+3 or n+4 that gets the free tickets… I am “alerted” as to when I should hit the secret page on the NIN|JA tour site.
Now, while I’m a big fan of Nine Inch Nails and Mr. Reznor’s work, being linked to him via my phone is rather eye opening.
- Trent wakes up EARLY.
- Trent is now headed west, but will soon again be on the east coast.
- My window for free tickets is quickly closing for my optimal May 22nd show.
- I like sleeping
An interesting thing happened this morning after I was woken up by his tweet arriving on my phone. I checked it, then promptly fell back asleep and started to dream. Being a drummer for Trent is not nearly as fun as trashing a penthouse hotel suite with the guy. I guess I figured that since his tweet said he was watching the sun rise this morning, he must have been looking at it from a tall vantage point. So there we were tearing some poor hotel’s penthouse suite asunder. It was only a 7 story building or so, but we were able to find plenty of furniture to fill the pool below. Ah fun times.
Hey if you’re sick of Twitter news, I found a new site (via TechCrunch) called fmylife (maybe NSFW). It almost sounds like it was written by a single person, but it’s actually pretty funny and hey, if half of the stuff in there is true, then chances our lives are f’ing fantastic. If you’re still a fan of IRC, then there’s always bash.org (also NSFW) for a good laugh (thanks Tom).
